Simple Writing Is Difficult

Writing is difficult. Disagree, eh? However, if you were raised in Indonesia between late 80s and early 90s, you may find an agreement with me. Being a child in those primary school eras, I recalled that students were never taught with good writing which, in my opinion, should be assertive, logical and concise.

At elementary school's Indonesian Literature subject, most of the time educators instructed students to make a composition writing where you can make up story or list ideas without adequate elaboration. There is no emphasis on how to write and the most important is, courage of what to write. As example, assignments in writing are usually submitted and scored but feedback has never been given to students. No one will ever know whether the writing has been appropriately reviewed and what aspect in it that may need to be improved.

Students were not encouraged to voice out their thinking originally and directed to be in certain order which is considered as "normal" or "acceptable". Most of them only are reinstating what the adult expect them to be instead of provide their natural point of view in a situation.

In addition, presentation of idea in logical manner is also something that rarely can be seen that time. Students just write and locate their ideas anyway and anywhere they want without concerning is it understandable for readers from different level of education and background.

In this picture: With the honest policeman, Mr. Wibawa.

One said there are only three good police in the world. A few good old police. They are Hoegeng (Hoegeng Imam Santoso), Patung Polisi (Police Statue), and Polisi Tidur (Speed Bump).

This is Mr. Wibawa, a police statue in Magelang Police Office.

A Perspective On The Use of Veil

I am interested in an article titled "Isi Otak Lelaki Ttg Wanita" or if translated "What Men Think of Women" from link .

The full translated article is given below.

Do you know why I like women wearing hijab? The answer is simple, because my eyes are difficult to be compromised. Imagine how I should control my eyes from the exit door of the house to go back into the house again. And, do you know? On the campus where my whole day there, the things my eyes could see were always what just make my eyes widened. Only two directions that can make me calm down, looking up into the sky or down to the ground.

Looking forward there are bunch of women walkby with a piece of tank-top, turned to the left view hips opened, right away there are serving tight pants plus "You Can See" shirt, back to back was blocked by the "challenging breasts!" Astaghfirullah ... where in the world should my eyes be looking at?

Frankly speaking of lust, I surely like it. It is even not enough for me! However, I do not want my life controlled by lust. I also need to live with the scenery that makes me calm. I want to see women not as objects satisfy the eye. But they are stunning elegant figure, when viewed in the eyes make cool. Not the hot looks that make the eyes, making faith pulled off by the thought "lustful" and be hardhearted.

Just wonder if women know what they were thinked about by men when they dressed sexy-look, I am sure they do not want to look like that anymore. Except for those who do have the intention to attract men to wear precious assets they had.

The term sexy, if I may define, essentially said is full of sex appeal. If there is a sort of sexy women praised by men, just do not be proud of first. As a man who had a disposition should be respected and appreciated you are embarrassed, because it is already making appearances sexy man undress your eyes, imagine you are a natural object of lust in his mind. Hope you make more sexy, more ... and over again. And you know what conclusion the man had in mind? A slut!

Like or dislike, you have made yourself not valued and respected by your appearance that you present yourself in the eyes of men. If something bad happens to you; sexual assault (by words or physically) or even raping. Who should be blamed? I am sure you answer "man" is not it? Oh, how a man tortured into an age of today.

If I may say, no buyer if nothing is selling. Very simple, people would buy if there is an offering. Moreover, the good stuff for free, well certainly everyone will scramble to accept. So what's the difference with your offering your sexy appearance in public, I'm sure anyone who saw want to taste it.

That day I had to resist the torture had on this subject. Not on this day only, on average each day. I want to protest, but where should it be addresed? Do I have to enjoy it ...? but I'm really afraid of this substance that gives the eye. How will I account for it later? real dilemma in my entire life.

Allah Ta'ala has said: "Say to the believing men, let them gaze and maintain their sexes", which will be more sacred to them. Verily Allah is aware of what they do. Say to the believing women "Let them gaze and maintain their sexes." (Surah An-Nuur: 30-31).

So I choose to often to stay in this small room, sitting at the computer to absorb several million electrons emitted from the monitor, I just want to keep this eye straight. Let my eyes are damaged by radiation monitors, than I can not account them for the future accountability to God. So, what do you think? I just do not preferred if I were invited to the mall, hang-out, cafes, and anykind of place that always presents the sexiness.

I am sure, many men who have a dilemma like me this. Some may enjoy, but mostly there are frightened and confused what to do. For those of you women are always and even more tormenting us until we could no longer think about where the good and bad things. Then forced to the conclusion that you enjoy the sights publish?

So, would you use veil? ... because it is really comfortable, peaceful, graceful, beautiful, and of course good-looked to the eyes.

Above writing might be a bit grammatically misunderstandable since I fast-translated it (with a little help from google.translate of course). Then I commented:

Dear reverend author,

I do not agree with the idea of your writing. There are two things why I said so.

First, men should be held responsible for theirselves and their actions. Whether he is clean or dirty-minded, it is his own choice. Does it sound wise, men blame women for sexual fantasies created by themselves? It may be true, the woman trigger, but when the trigger is not pulled, is it still going to explode?

Second, that such closure will not protect women from the great imagination of the men's mind. Simply put, when using veil problem can be solved, why in Saudi Arabia may occur cases of rape of Indonesian Workers (TKI)*?

In essence, if you want to use the cover, it should be purely from the woman herself and not because of pressure from outside. Thank you

* This is a nice example I took from a friend's old writing (pardon me Mas Pamudji Widodo). Really inspiring.

Start The Blog: A Therapy

This is my first keyboard-scratch. I have been writeless for over 3 years. What a beautiful dull mind! Therefore, as a therapy, I am going to regularly write here. Well, regular refers to something made continuously over certain period: daily, weekly, monthly, even centennially.

I prefer to started with the internationally-standardised Arial 10pts. Things look clearer, at least from my perspective.

Ok, let me write regularly and see what improvement I made for at least a year ahead. Countdown started.
